The day was young, and Felix had a little bit of time before his next class started. Taking his place among the flowers at his familiar bench, he leaned lazily against the back as he stretched his legs out in front of him. Mis-matched eyes scanned the crowds for anyone he knew, but saw no one right off the bat. Instead, he smiled happily at the passersby, wondering if any would return the gesture. When none did, he frowned and sighed sadly as he sat back up.
Turning to the side, he pulled his backpack up from beside the bench and unzipped the front pocket. From within its depths, he pulled out a cherry-flavored lollipop and pulled the wrapper off. When he saw no trashcans in the immediate vicinity, he dropped the clear plastic back into is bag and re-zipped it closed. He'd get rid of that later. Bring the hardened candy to his lips, he gently sucked on the top, smiling when he tasted the familiarity of his favorite flavor. He knew there was a reason why he cared these around -- they always made him feel better.
After the lollipop was almost gone, he grew bored of just sitting there. With another sigh, he stood up from his bench and stretched his arms above his head, and then threw the long strands of his hair back behind his shoulder. He turned his gaze upon the building a short distance away, knowing that was where he had to be in about twenty minutes. He didn't want to get there early, so he figured he could just walk slow.
However, after leaving his place on the bench, it didn't take him long to realize he'd forgotten his backpack. With a roll of the eyes, Felix turned around on the spot, knocking into someone he hadn't even noticed was there.

Rhiannon, dressed in a bright blue t-shirt, an unzipped black hoodie, and dark jeans, was stalking in an almost predatory manner around the garden. No matter how pleasant she could act, no matter how domestic and tame, the lady was a beast at heart, and couldn't hide all of it. At the moment, she was stalking prey; looking for her next pawn.
Rhia had time before her next class, and the unveiling of her team name had left her anxious, in a rather negative manner. Graceless? What kind of name is that!? I control in only the most graceful of ways. I'm the perfect leader, and this is the name I get? Disgusting. That polite smile on her face portrayed none of this.
A flick of her ear was given as a slightly chilly, fall breeze caused her to pull into her hoodie slightly. It wasn't all that cold yet, hence she was still wearing t-shirts, and the sun was still out, but the wind was cold, the reasoning behind her sweatshirt. Definitely not enough to zip it up yet though.
Lost in her own thoughts, Rhia didn't notice the slightly taller male until too late. Caught off guard, she'd lose her balance, and tumble to ground, ears pinned against her head in minor annoyance. There were worse things in the world she knew, and it wasn't the first time she'd walked into others, or had people walk into her, but it was a minor inconvenience.
Head would tilt upwards slightly to see the person whom she had bumped into, and dark eyes would study his face while her fluffy tail slashed behind her. She'd smile, almost pathetically and apologetically.
"Sorry about that, I wasn't paying attention. I should have watched where I was going." Her voice was quiet, and seemingly a tad bit shy, though not at all dismissive or angry. He's facing me already. I could have easily blamed it on him, but that wouldn't have been any fun, now would it? Oh, such dark thoughts for a sweet face.
During the fall, bag had fallen, and a few of it's contents had been scattered, but she quickly moved to begin grabbing them, and shoving them back into their place. The things that had fallen? A notebook, two paperback books, and the king she had grabbed from her father's chess set before leaving home; a hasty decision she almost regretted, having lost the thing almost daily, but still something she was glad to have.
It was clear glass, and chipped a sign of wear and age, and was used in almost all games she played with the chess club, even if it didn't match her set. It was a good luck charm in her mind, it would seem. During her games with father dearest, she'd always chosen the clear side, while her father took the frosted glass side by default. Rhia felt a connection to the king in some way, possibly felt even friendly towards it, not that she'd ever admit it. The piece, if others were to ask, was merely to remind her of home. It most definitely wasn't just so she'd have familiarity with something if she wouldn't let herself befriend anyone.

Felix, surprised and off-guard, quickly offered an apology. "So sorry! You have nothing to apologize for, that was entirely my fault." He gave a light pout. "I wasn't paying attention." Sort of thrown off by her bright t-shirt, the man quickly squatted down and began helping her pick up the things she'd dropped out of her bag. After have grabbed a few things, he held them out to her, hoping she wouldn't be pissed at him. She was a beautiful girl, after all. Felix didn't want to be hated by a beautiful girl. However, something caught his eye and he stared at it awkwardly as she put her things away.
"A king?" he questioned, wondering what the reason was for her carrying such a thing around. It was a brilliant piece, unlike the cheap chess sets he'd played as a child with his sister. They had never really played by the rules -- they were too hard for Ari to follow, so Felix had always just played like it was checkers. As a result, he didn't actually know how to play the game. It was sort of tragic, but he figured someday, if he had the motivation, he could learn.
Felix stood up and offered the girl his hand in case she wanted to use it to bring herself back up to eye-level. "Again, sorry for knocking you down." Out of the corner of his eye, he could see his bag still sitting on the floor near the bench. "Wait here, I'll be right back," he said, and returned only moments later with his backpack. Out of said bag, he grabbed a purple lollipop like the one he'd eaten a few minutes ago. "Lollipop?" he randomly asked, giving a bright smile. This kid was so weird.

The emotion behind that smile on her face would change to something a tad bit less sheepish, and Rhia would take the items that had spilled from her bag from the guy, "Thanks, and it's fine." They'd be quickly placed in her bag, almost haphazardly. Someone surely wasn't too organized.
The other spoke, and Rhia's attention would quickly be returned to him. "Hmmm? Oh, yeah. It's from a set at home. I play chess. You?" It was a decent enough conversation starter she supposed. Besides, if he did play, she might even be able to get a game or two out of him, and that was always quite fun.
Bag was collected, and a hand was offered to Rhiannon. She was quick to accept, letting the guy help her up. "It's fine. I wasn't paying attention either." Tone would give off a bit of embarrassment. I really should have been paying more attention, of course, it seemed to have set me up well enough with a conversation. As sarcastic and cruel as she could be in her mind, at least the girl could see the 'bright' side of things.
"Wait here, I'll be right back." She'd stand, waiting, not entirely sure where she'd go, seeing as she was just killing time at this point, but agreed none-the-less. She wasn't going to kill this conversation for such a thing. He was only being polite after all; dismissing himself momentarily, and she understood that well enough.
When the man returned, he had a bag himself, and offered her a sucker. A kind smile would be given in return, and she'd accept the gift, "Thanks," and unwrap it. The clear plastic would be placed in the front pocket of her jeans, and would most likely be there until laundry day.
"I'm Rhia...s'nice to meet you." After that, the purple lollipop would be placed in her mouth. The sugary thing was nice. She couldn't get a hold of such things too often; whenever she went to town, the idea of fetching candy evaded her, until she returned. It seemed to be a cycle of sorts.
A bit of a silence would fall, and Rhia would shift, almost awkwardly. "...so...have you found your partner yet?" It seemed like a decent enough question, after all, everyone around this school seemed obsessed with their 'other half'. As if. Who could care that much for someone else? Depend on someone to such an extent? Only weaklings who couldn't stand on their own two legs, but instead needed support from others to get anything accomplished. Pitiful.
