He couldn't believe it. Well, no, scratch that. He could believe it; such an academy should have it! Onyx ears perked straight up, his tail curling while flicking back and forth, and cerulean eyes gazed around in wonder. A library. Sure, all schools had libraries, but this library was certainly something he hadn't seen before. Rows upon rows of books! His mother had taught him that one who reads holds true knowledge (well, it was something like that. He was too awestruck to truly care what she had said). They only had a limited number of books in their house back in Germany, and his father never allowed them to buy anymore. The school he was at for a short time before the Academy had a rather small library, and he had already read through all the books twice by the time that scholarship had arrived.
The blond Sacrifice swept his gaze across the library, taking the, in his words, beautiful sight in. It was then that he noticed he was still standing in front of the door. If it weren't for the 'no running inside' rule engraved into his mind, he would have bolted down the isles of books. But, no. He stuck to his manners and started walking. Valentin made a beeline for the first section he could get to--fiction. Ah, how he loved fiction. It allowed him to leave this world and enter another in most cases.
His blue eyes scanned the shelves, looking for a book in which he hadn't already read. Well, that was easy, but there were so many choices! Hm... How many books would they allow him to check out? Oh, that didn't matter. He could always read them inside the library. After all, he had a while before curfew. The boy reached out, carefully sliding out the first book he could grab. He skimmed over the cover, taking in the appearance of the book before making his way over to the closest area to sit. Once he made himself comfortable, the book was opened. And, Valentin was lost in the book, completely tuning the whole world out.
ooc: I couldn't resist. <3 Valentin is just too much of a bookworm.

{ Yoink. Ebony just got some bad news. He could use a friend. }
You don't have a partner, Ebony. They'd said, almost mockingly, when the boy had inquired yet again about his missing Sacrifice. You're a Blank. Don't you get it? You won't ever have a Sacrifice.
"Fuck." Cursed the tiny tomcat as he made his way to a quiet place, somewhere other than his dorm. Normally happy and pleasant, Ebony was having a piss-rotten day. He'd asked to speak with the people in charge of finding their students' partners. They'd agreed to see him that morning. The meeting started off casual...
...but then they broke the news to him. He'd be alone forever. No partner. No one to share his life with. He might as well have been a normal, boring human.
But no, he was a Fighter. He felt that magic pulling on him, constantly humming just behind his ears, always there. He felt the need to protect, to thrive. He felt it.
His arm was bleeding.
He'd cut himself after being told the news. Not emo cutting. He'd carved a fitting name into his wrist, in hopes that maybe they were wrong. The only name that had popped into his head; Lifeless. He'd leave his enemies lifeless if they ever dared to challenge him. He'd show them no mercy. They didn't deserve it.
"I sound like a lunatic." He murmured bitterly as he came up to the Library doors, slipping inside with a sigh and praying to find the place as empty as it usually was.
No such luck. As he rounded a couple more tall towers of books, he discovered another student; this one was a black-furred fellow with contrastingly bright hair and blue eyes. He seemed absorbed in whatever book he was reading.
Best I left him alone, then.
Ebony turned to leave but as he did, his right arm, the one that bled, smacked up against the book shelf. He winced and yelped in surprise and pain, clutching his arm to his chest and taking a step away from the offending furniture. "Damn it!" So much for a silent retreat.

He couldn't believe the library had such good literature! Wait, didn't we already go through this? He could believe it. Maybe he should just stop thinking and continue reading. The story was filled with action, and it was pretty fast paced. There was also a little romance thrown in, yet it didn't really affect the plot all the much. The blond was completely into the book, not even noticing when another student entered the library. Heck, he couldn't even notice the scent of blood that lingered around the upperclassman. He was that absorbed into his book.
Then the loud yelp sliced through the silence like a knife to butter, and Valentin let out an oh-so-manly squeak as he flinched. Black ears flattened against his head, and he could practically feel the fur on his tail stand up. Cerulean eyes shot up from the book (which he was clutching to for dear life now) and locked on the other student. He just kind of sat there for a few seconds as his mind slowly decided whether to make sure the other was okay or not. It was then that he smelled the blood, along with seeing it. The Sacrifice stood from his seat, placing the book on said seat, and hesitantly made his way over to the injured student. Why was he hesitant? Because he was just scared out of his mind from the sudden noise, so his mind was telling him to be on guard.
Valentin gulped, stopping two or so yards away. His tail twitched near his feet as he thought over what he should say. "U-um..." He began, though it wasn't much. "A-are you o-okay?" Maybe if his true name had been 'Fearless' instead of 'Speechless' then he wouldn't have much of a stuttering problem. But, no, he had to stick with Speechless. At least it was better than finding out he was a Zero. That he couldn't take. He was just fine with Speechless. Cerulean eyes locked on the upperclassmen, both worry and fear clouding them. Why was he bleeding?

Oh great, now he had attention on him. Ebony turned to look at the other student, forcing a somewhat fake grin to appear on his face. "I'm fine." Liar. "I was just looking for a first aid kit. Do you know if the library has one or not?" He figured it made sense; his excuse for the blood would be that he cut himself on a chair or something if anyone asked. That was a lot of blood for an 'I'm fine' cut, considering the true injury there, but hopefully it'd be enough of an excuse to keep prying eyes away from the real thing.
He kept his arm to his chest despite the fact that his nice navy hoodie was slowly being stained with blood. He didn't feel faint, yet; despite the pain of the cut and the relatively decent amount of blood loss, he felt fine. Must've been a fighter trait, really.
Speaking of, I wonder if this kid's got a partner. Probably does. I've yet to meet another... Blank. I wonder how he'd react if he knew? His brain rattled on, as if not quite connected to the situation. Curiosity, more than anything. How strange.

The boy glanced around before his shaking voice replied. "E-eh... I d-don't know. L-let me go check." With a slight bow, the blond started to back away, turning around and making a beeline for the librarian's desk. His footsteps halted, and his nose just barely met the top of the counter. "U-um..." He started, trying to get the woman's attention. She was currently reading, apparently not noting what was going on in the library. Valentin cleared his throat, still trying to catch her attention. When she finally glanced up and placed a fake smile on her face, the boy took it as a sign to speak. "D-do you ha-have a first aid kit?" The woman stared at him quizzically before reaching under the desk, pulling out a small white case with a red cross on it. He took it, mumbling a soft 'danke', before leaving the desk.
Valentin kept his pace quick, worried over the mass amount of blood that he had saw earlier. The first aid kit opened, thankfully not being jammed, and the blond plucked out the items in which he had seen his mother use before: gauze, roller bandage, and antiseptic spray. He then pulled out a handkerchief (his mother forced him to keep one with him at all times) from his pocket. Cerulean eyes glanced at the older student, as if questioning what to do next. "D-do you w-want me to clean that for y-you?" He really should get over that stuttering problem of his... While he does have all the materials out already, the boy just wanted to make sure. You never know what the students at this school will do if you do something unneccessary or whatever.
ooc: Bah, failure. DX Sorry this is so late and... Museless. I've been busy painting my school.

Ebony watched the stuttering boy run away, fleeing to find a medkit. Feeling a bit faint, finally, the tuxedo colored neko sat down to wait. It didn't take long. Soon enough, the kid returned, first aid kit in hand. He seemed ready to wrap Ebony's wounds himself but the fighter made a sound of protest at the very idea. "I've got it." He murmured, reaching half-hazardly for the gauze with his good hand.
Then he reclined his hand again with a wince and sighed, keeping his eyes on the other boy and not daring to look down at the blood, now that his numbness had gone away. "...just... don't ask about it, okay?" He warned carefully before moving to remove his sweater... and then his shirt, both now stained red at the sleeve, chest and side.
The cut wasn't as bad to look at; the blood was mostly swept away within the meterial of his sweater and shirt and the bleeding had already slowed down quite a bit. Still, as he held out his arm for the medical attention, the blood trekked down along the curve of his wrist, pooling between his tendons there, well pronounced due to how skinny the kid was. "...name's Ebony, by the way. Ebony Creed."
