WORDS 390 OUTFIT click TAGGED open NOTES whoever joins would find her backstage still. She has a great voice, by the way. Also, she's singing this song. It was late into the afternoon, a cloudy day that found a mysteriously depressed Astrid hiding out alone in the backstage area of the Gymnasium. She was messing around with the sound systems, killing time until curfew sent her back to her dorm.
She wasn't feeling very social today. She couldn't shake a homesick feeling for some reason. It would pass but for now, she wanted to be alone to her thoughts.
Most of all, she didn't want to worry poor Gage. He was so protective of her, concerned with every frown that found its way onto her normally bright and happy face. She didn't want him to worry about her, especially since this was just a bit of homesickness.
She'd put one of her disks into the sound system and was messing with it, the volume low enough not to leave the gym. She'd twisted dials and flicked switches until only music and background singing could be heard in the song. She wasn't sure why, she just wanted to have some fun with the microphone maybe. Some time alone to sing without annoying dorm-mates telling her to shut up or commenting on her voice like nosy rats.
She hummed along to the intro as she moved to pick up the mic, finally content with her editing and wanting to test her voice with such an emotional song. Normally a little boy sang it, but she hoped her voice could make the same effect.
"In my dreams Children sing A song of love For every boy and girl
The sky is blue The fields are green And laughter is the Language of the world
Then I wake and all I see Is a world full of people in need!"
She sang out, her voice beautiful and filled with emotion. She moved to lean up against one of the unused turntables, cupping the mic in both hands and closing her eyes, losing herself in the song as she did so often these days.
"Tell me why Does it have to be like this
Tell me why Is there something I have missed
Tell me why Cause I don't understand
When so many need somebody We don't give a helping hand
Tel me why! |

It didn't take long for him to notice someone was singing. Felix was doing his rounds around the campus -- doing who knows what -- when he came upon the gymnasium. Whether or not he had actually wanted to do something gym-like was unknown, because as soon as he entered, he heard it -- the beautiful voice of a woman singing a song. There wasn't anyone else in the main area of the gym considering the time of day, so he figured whoever it was thought that they were all alone in here.
As the song was performed, Felix found himself drawn to the stage area. He couldn't actually see anyone, so he made the assumption that the female was backstage. Her voice was so full of passion that Felix almost felt overwhelmed. Once it was clear that the girl had ended the song, he gave a few loud claps, and called back to whoever was hiding behind the curtain,
"Bravo, my lady! You have a very lovely voice, indeed," he stated, a bright smile coming to his lips as he said the words. His mis-matched eyes were bright as he waited to see if anyone would emerge to meet him from behind the scenes.

WORDS 225 OUTFIT click TAGGED felix NOTES meep. She felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes as she finished the song. It reminded her so much of home and it only made her homesickness worse, much to her dismay. She loved it here at the Academy, thanks to Gage... and Avery and Skylar. Her friends. Real friends. She could've have asked for more than that.
Well, maybe some time alone, actually. Apparently she couldn't have that here at the Academy. A terrible sound. The sound of clapping from the other side of the curtain. She winced, clenching her teeth to hold back a cry of surprise. Still cringing, she peeked out from behind the curtain, spotting the brown-haired boy below the stage, clapping and praising her. No. She didn't want praise. She wanted to be alone.
Still, she wasn't the type to push friendly people away for no apparent reason. She forced a smile, so natural looking and stepped out from behind the curtain, bowing dramatically as she stepped into view. "Why thank you, good sir!" She said back, lifting herself up again and trotting over to the edge of the stage.
"Heh. You surprised me. I thought everyone was gone for the day." She admitted casually, taking a seat on the edge of the stage and leaning her arms on her lap. "Name's Astrid." to waste in a world full of war ? |

Felix gave a whole-hearted laugh that was different in so many ways to the one Gage usually gave. He tilted his head to the side as he took in her appearance. "You are very welcome," he said after, and shrugged when she called him out for surprising her. "Sorry about that, miss. I couldn't help myself, your voice was beautiful and I suppose I was enticed." The situation reminded him of seamen getting dragged to their deaths by the beautiful singing of the sirens -- but in this scenario, hopefully he wouldn't be getting killed.
"My name would be Felix. It's a pleasure meeting you," he said, holding his hand out to formally shake hers. He was very proper, this one. "I do hope you can forgive me for intruding." He took a glance around at the rest of the gym. He supposed it did look odd that he'd be here when no one else was, but he didn't have any excuse for being here. He'd just been wandering around aimlessly.
